this is Sweden; These are our facesPhotography exhibition at Fashion week Stockholm A/W 18.
The ambition for the exhibition was to invite to an experience where fashion is not equivalent to consumption, but a movement where one can find strength, community and inspiration to combat the political depression we are currently undergoing. The idea was born in the fall of 2016 when we met the photographer Patricia Reyes and shared each other's vision of a future dream project. The result this is Sweden: these are our voices, these are our faces wich is a tribute to the people who inspired us. Patricia photographed 33 of these heroes, individuals who use their bodies and voices every day as political opposition. In the portraits they are dressed in one of this is Sweden's most loaded garment; Bomber the jacket with the crossed flags.
The portrayal series, the soundworks and the poets' performance were a direct counter reaction to the widespread and accepted racism many of us face today. Fashion is not something that is only for consumption. We do not believe we can shop us happy from this political depression. On the other hand, we think fashion can be a way to unite and activate us.
